Padmavati controversy based on rumours: Bhansali tells Parliamentary panel
Amidst a seething discussion over
his movie "Padmavati", chief Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Thursday showed up
before a Parliamentary panel here and kept up that the column over the
yet-to-be-discharged motion picture was simply in light of gossipy tidbits,
unequivocally dismissing charges that he had twisted recorded actualities about
the sixteenth century Rajput ruler.
Bhansali was barbecued for more than
two hours by individuals from the Parliamentary Standing Committee on IT as he
showed up before it in Parliament House with Prasoon Joshi, who heads the
Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Sources revealed to IANS that the
producer was inquired as to why he had screened the film for a couple of select
writers even before it was cleared by the edit board.
"All the discussion over the
film depends on gossipy tidbits. I have not misshaped realities. The film
depends on a ballad by Malik Muhammad Jayasi," Bhansali stated, alluding
to the sixteenth century Indian Sufi artist's epic lyric "Padmavat".
