Padmavati row: Karni Sena wants Bharat Bandh, Bhansali gets security cover
The Shri Rajput Karni Sena on Wednesday required a 'Bharat Bandh' (shutdown) on December 1 if Sanjay
Leela Bhansali's motion picture "Padmavati" discharges on that date,
while the Maharashtra government gave a preparatory security cover to the
producer in perspective of the expanding debates and developing dangers.
"We will hold encourages the nation over, including
Gurugram, Patna, Lucknow and Bhopal before the discharge date," Lokendra
Singh Kalvi, author supporter of the Shri Rajput Karni Sena, an association of the Rajput
people group, told media people in Jaipur.
He said all groups, including Muslims, upheld the Sena on the
issue.
"We request a total prohibition on the film. Presently,
we don't need any pre-screening of the motion picture. All we need is a
boycott," he said.
He guaranteed that according to the Cinematography Act, the
administration can withhold the arrival of a motion picture for three months
even after a thumbs up by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and it
can be expanded further.
