Valentine's Day vandalism and the political economy of policing in India

Time for dread to stalk hearts that beat with adoration and aching. Time for the recollections of mortification and badgering for the sake of good policing to frequent the individuals who perpetrate the "wrongdoing" of dating. Time for the approaching risk of manhandle and attack to strike once more.
Another Valentine's day has arrived and young fellows and ladies crosswise over India will chance head shavings, confront darkening, open thrashings and persuasively solemnized relational unions – all for the sake of sparing our susceptible youth from the underhanded impact of evil Western culture and its ideas of sentimental love. Politically-associated trivial crooks guaranteeing to act naturally selected defenders of India's antiquated culture will be out pursuing young fellows and ladies in card shops, parks, lodgings, eateries and shopping centers, undermining them, mishandling them, stripping private and open property on the watch of the police.
Indeed, even Kerala, frequently held as one of the more dynamic states as far as the standard of policing, isn't invulnerable to this.

Some place, blessing shops offering Valentine's day stock will be vandalized and compelled to close down. Some place, young men will be offered to jackasses for going through the day with their lady friends. Some place, youthful unmarried couples will be dragged from eateries and given an open whipping.
